BALTIMORE - Level 2 Sports has announced the details of the 2008 adidas National Lacrosse Classic. adidas Lacrosse is the title sponsor and event partner which will feature the Top 500 high school underclassmen players in the United States.
Open to 9th, 10th and 11th grade boys, the adidas National Lacrosse Classic provides an opportunity for players to test their skills against the ‘best of the best’ competing for a roster spot on their Regional Team.
The adidas Event Advisory Board has established 8 regions in the Nation. Each region will have a select number of teams based upon 2006 high school participation rates. A total of 20 teams will play in the grand finals, July 18-20, 2008 at the Maryland Soccerplex in Maryland as a showcase for college coaches and scouts. In addition, the winning team of the adidas National Lacrosse Classic will represent the United States against Canada for the Brogden Cup in December 2008.
The regional and national events will benefit the non-profit organizations, R.E.A.C.H.E.S, U.S. Lacrosse Organization and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA Lacrosse). R.E.A.C.H.E.S. (Rewarding Education Athletic Choices Helping Each Sport) was founded in 2007 in an effort to promote, protect and preserve amateur athletics in its truest form. R.E.A.C.H.E.S. provides athletic opportunities to athletes of all ages and abilities in a unique environment with the profits of each event earmarked for specific needs in that sport. The U.S. Lacrosse Organization is the governing body for the sport of lacrosse. The organization provides a leadership role in virtually every aspect of the game throughout the United States, and offers a number of programs and information services to its national membership and more than one million lacrosse enthusiasts throughout the country. Contribution to U.S. Lacrosse will be earmarked for the Brodgen Cup. Since 1954, The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference.
